About Yvonne

I am an Earth sister, medicine woman, energy weaver, artist of ceremony, maker, dreamer, mother and grandmother.Practicing herbalism, energy weaving and intuitive readings through traditional indigenous folk ways.

I draw inspiration from my ancestral lineage of Indigenous Mexican and Scottish/Canadian decent, each rooted in Earth-based practices. My intuitive sense is lead by my heart and el don, channeling consciously through the relationship I have with the energy of Spirit, ancestral wisdom, Father Sky, Madre Tierra, the elements, the plantas and my guides.

I have spent many moons connecting to the land through medicinal plants and creative practices. Weaving in various modalities that nurture the soul — from ceremony and rituals, sacred plant offerings, and energy healing. Throughout my life I have been drawn to the cycles of the seasons-the moon-and the divine feminine. These practices have cultivated in me a strong connection to the natural world, and have defined my embodied experiences.

I have been working with medicinal plants for over 36 years. When I was a young mother, I learned the magic of plants and began developing my relationship with them. I can’t imagine a world without this connection. I will forever be a student with them.

My studies of Curanderismo have been inspired by my abuelas where healings were just part of their knowing. I have been fortunate to study and sit with healers in Oaxaca, Mexico including, Maestro Lorencio Nuñez, Dona Queta, and Dona Norma. I share my learnings from these maestro’s with permission. I also continue studies through the University of New Mexico. Both my mother and my grandmother where nurses and it was inevitable that I too had a calling to care for others.

In 2012 I became a licensed birth doula through Mother Tree Doula. Although I am not taking on patients in this realm I do love working with new mothers for blessing ways and holding space for those passing on.

Some of my other studies include: The Spirit of Tobacco with Manari Ushigua, leader of the Sapara Nation, exploring feminine mythology with Sharon Blackie’s “Voices of the Wells”, mentoring with Isla Macleod, Shaman and author of Rituals for Life, and Intuitive Casting with the green witch, Rebecca Anuwen. I am also a Holy Fire Reiki II practitioner.

As I continue to study with the plantas and spiritually daily some of my greatest and truest teachings have been cultivating an authentic relationship with myself and Tonantzin-Pachamama-Madre Tierra-Mother Earth.

On the day to day you can find me in my shop, Casa de Ritual in Portland, Oregons Alberta Arts District — where I create our in-house line, Make & Mary that caters to offerings for body & soul.

Thank you for connecting with me,

Ometeotl! Yvonne

My life experiences have drawn me towards nurturing others. Attending many births, facilitating healing circles, women’s retreats, and curating and collaborating self-care experiences through hands-on making and spiritual practices rooted in ancestral indigenous wisdom.

“Working with Yvonne has been such a blessing. She is the embodiment of love, compassion, and the wisdom of mother earth. The sacred space she creates lends itself to the deepest of healings as she so caringly weaves her various cultural and ancestral healing modalities to allow the recipient all of the abundance the universe has to offer. Her respect for the diverse medicines along with the place in the recipient's journey is palpable. To have been witness to the depth of healing both from a distance and personally has been amazing yet not surprising due to her level of understanding for all of us on our unique healing journey.” Wendy L
